Moulsecoomb Primary School has been designated a South Downs National Park Ambassador School in recognition of the superb outdoor learning opportunities available in it’s grounds.
The school is keen that other schools in the city visit it’s unique and extensive grounds. Amongst other features, the grounds include;
- A neolithic house
- An iron age house
- A medieval house
- A WW2 air raid shelter
- A raingarden
- A world garden
- An orchard and pond
- A forest school area
- A fairy tale forest
- And chickens!
The school has prepared and resourced a menu of workshops for each feature. Schools can book in to run activities themselves on site or book a workshop facilitator with specialist knowledge to run trips for them.
To launch their Ambassador School status, and showcase their grounds and potential activities, the school is offering 6 schools an opportunity to visit on 20 June from 10am – 2.30pm. Schools can bring one class which will rotate around 4 led-activities.

The school has good public transport links. It is a 10 minute walk from Moulsecoomb Station and all buses to the University of Sussex stop outside the school.
